One of the brethren asked me to record for him on these sheets everything I had composed and produced concerning realities and mysteries, along the path of Sufism and in other disciplines. I therefore recorded for him—may God grant him success—in this Fihrist what he had requested. However, a few of the books I shall mention here, God willing, had been deposited with someone because of a circumstance that arose, and that person has not returned them to me up to now. [Editorial insertion in the web source: “We note that some of these deposited books now exist, by God’s grace, such as Kunh ma la budda lil-murid minhu and Uqlat al-Mustawfiz, although most remain lost.”] Everything in people’s hands today is from what we did not deposit with him. Some of these works are complete—the majority—and some are unfinished—the minority.
