4.2 - The Authenticity of the Attribution of the Leave to Shaykh Muhyiddin

Although there are some differences between the manuscripts and the absence of original or historical copies, there is no doubt about the validity of the attribution of the Leave to its author Sheikh Muhyiddin, especially since it mentions the names of 70 of his sheikhs from whom he received knowledge and education. He also clearly asserts in it that his census of his works is incomplete, and that some of his works are only small articles, while others are composed of many volumes. We also note that the Sheikh has divided the works in this Leave in a similar manner to what he mentioned in the Index treatise, which he wrote a few years earlier, and most of these books are also mentioned in the Index. In fact, after the proper investigation of the Index and the Leave, the latter does not add to the Index more than nine titles, which means that more than 96\% of the titles mentioned in it are also mentioned in the Index as well. Therefore, there is no reason to assume its invalidity despite the lack of historical manuscripts or any other minor issues.

However, as Mahmoud Ghurab doubted the validity of the attribution of the Index to Shaykh Muhyiddin, we see him questioning the validity of the attribution of the Leave, although in this case he has more arguments, in addition to what he mentioned in his attempt to deny the validity of the Index. This is mainly because of the differences in the number of titles between the manuscripts as we mentioned, and the fact that all of them are late copies and far from the period in which the author lived, in addition to the difference in the name of the authorized king, as we shall discuss shortly.
