1.5.2.4 - (The Restricted Books of Mysteries)

As for the books that the Real has commanded me in my heart to classify them but He has not yet ordered me to bring out to the people and spread them in the creation, they are: (178 titles, but here we find significant differences in mentioning the symbolic letters between the copy of al-Qunawi on the one hand and the late manuscripts and editions on the other hand, so we will not refer to all these differences as long as it is clear in this original copy that we relied upon, which is the oldest manuscript and certified by the author. We also note that in the edition of Awwad these letters are mentioned by their name, such as: “The Book of QAF”, while in this original copy they are mentioned as symbol, such as: “The Book of Q”. Therefore, again, it is likely that this is the decision of the transcriber who seems to have acted a lot upon the text.)

(76). – The Unicity

al-alif wa-huwa The book of al-aḥadiyya - ("أ" وهو كتاب الأحدية)

(Al-Alif is the first Arabic alphabet) This book includes oneness, individuality, primacy, oddness, and unicity, and denying multiplicity in numerical existence, because the One appears (recurrently) in the ranks so numbers arise, and then it is absent and they remain. (In Awwad’s edition, as well as in Haci Mahmoud’s version: “then they become absent and it remains.” This concise phrase includes a comprehensive theory and a profound view of the mechanism of creation and how it is introduced by the Real, or the Single Monad, then its subsequent annihilation, at all instances of time, and the renewal of creation with the succession of instances.).

(77). – The He

"Y" wa-huwa kitāb al-huwa -("ي" وهو كتاب الهو)

"Q" wa-huwa kitāb al-jāmiʿ - ("ق" وهو كتاب الجامع)

It includes the knowing of (the Name of) Majesty and its meanings of collection and abstraction (i.e. the Name of Majesty "Allah" as the collective Essence described by all other Divine Names) and also the particularity it may indicate, such as when someone horrified say: Oh Allah, help me! (meaning: Oh “Helper” help me!).

(79). – The Mercy

And it includes knowledge of its specialization and generalization, kindness and affection, compassion and sympathy.

"B" wa-huwa kitāb al-majd - ("ب" وهو كتاب المجد)

However, comparing with the Leave, in this same sequence, it was mentioned only in the name of the "Al-Raqīm", then after few titles the book of al-Raqm was mentioned. Therefore we considered them two separate books).

(109). – QB

"QB" wa-huwa kitāb al-jūd - ("قب")

(this title is missing in some manuscripts, and also in the editions of Awwad and Afifi, and it may have been wrongly written in this place in the original manuscript by al-Qunawi, because this symbol was already mentioned before, in number 79, and it is not attached here to some description like the other titles).

Symbolically, since one name of the whale in Arabic is "nun", just like the letter "N" which is inscribed in Arabic like half a circle, this is often employed by the Greatest Master to show that the Excess of the Liver of the Whale is the Unseen World that complements our world, to make a perfect harmony and eternal bliss.)

(Originally, in the manuscript by al-Qunawi, this word looks closer to “al-awwalīn: the Firsts”, but in the version of Haci Mahmoud, Hamidiye, and others, we find the above title.
