2.2.20.2 - Telepathic Action

Muhammad al-Khayyat had a high vigor to achieve what he wanted, which is called in Sufism: “Acting by Intention”. This is common in the Hereafter, but very rare in this world, but it could be achieved by the saints and non-saints. When the people of Paradise want anything, they only say to it “be” then it will form between their hands. Similarly, the people of Hell do not imagine any kind of fear or greater suffering but it will occur to them, or in fact it is their very imagination that is the fear occurring to them.

The formation in the afterlife is different from this world, because it results from imagination itself but it is realized in the sense, all by mere wishing, desire, willing, or lust, all this will be realized right away. This is not the case in this world, but this is still possible for some people, even those other than the saints, such as those who envy by looking with their eyes, but the result of that is not formed so quickly as it is the case in the hereafter, and also it is rare in this lower world. Some people have been described by that, such as Qadib al-Ban (who will be mentioned in chapter V) and some other saints, but in the hereafter it is common for everyone, as Ibn al-Arabi explained in Chapter 47 of the Meccan Revelations [Futuhat: I.255].

On this subject, Shaykh Muhyiddin mentioned that his house was far from the house of Muhammad Al-Khayyat and that he was between his house and their house when he felt his ears of clinking and he felt in his mind two contradictory thoughts: that he must go home and that he must go to his friend. After some hesitation, he went to him quickly and entered to find him standing in the middle of the house, and after he greeted him, he smiled and said to him: “Why you are late? My heart was related to you. Do you have something? We got some poor man whose name is Ali al-Salawi, and we have nothing for him. So the reason why his heart was related to him is because he knew that he had money to spend on the poor, so Shaykh Muhyiddin took five dirhams out of his pocket and paid to him, and then returned to his home quickly.

Muhammad al-Khayyat also served the poor himself, and prefer them with food and clothing, and he was very compassionate and merciful for the young, and knowing the honor of the elderly, thus giving everyone his right [Quds:, 59-61].
