3.3.8 - His Second Encounter with al-Khader (Tunis 590/1193)

In Chapter 25 of the Meccan Revelations, entitled: “on knowing a particular long-living pillar and the mysteries of the poles specialized in four categories of science, and the mystery of those station and stations and who have entered them from the creation”, the Greatest Shaykh recalled what happened to him in Tunisia where he met al-Khader, peace be upon him, after he visited his Shaykh al-Jarrah Ibn Khamis al-Kinani who was stationed at Marsa Abdoun. After he left him at night, taking the boat in the port of Tunis, the Greatest Shaykh felt some pain in his stomach during the night while the people of the boat were asleep. So he stood by the side of the ship and looked out to the sea and saw a person away in the moonlight, when the moon was full. Soon, this person came over on the face of water until he reached him, and he stood with him and raised one foot and relied on the other, so Shaykh Muhyiddin saw that his foot was not wet, then he relied on it and raised the other, and it was the same.

After that, he spoke to him and then handed him off and went to the lighthouse on the seaside on a hill two miles away, and he saw him cut that distance in two or three steps. Then, he heard him praising Allah on the top of the lighthouse. When Shaykh Muhyiddin came to the city he met a good man who said to him: how was your night yesterday in the boat with al-Khader, what he told you and what you told him? [Futuhat: I.186].
